The Importance of Following Your Treatment Plan
For patients age 12 years and older
Each person may have a different experience with ORKAMBI®. ORKAMBI treats your cystic fibrosis (CF), and may improve your lung function (FEV1), even though you may not feel any difference. Always speak with your healthcare provider if you have any questions about your treatments.
Review your treatment results
Increased or sustained lung function is just one measure of success when treating CF. Others include reduction in the number of pulmonary exacerbations, and maintaining or increasing weight. After you’ve been on ORKAMBI for a while, it might be a good idea to review how you are doing compared with how you were doing when you started treatment. You may want to discuss the following with your healthcare provider:
- Your improvement in lung function
- The number of pulmonary exacerbations you have had since you started treatment
- Your change in weight and height to determine a change in body mass index (BMI)
- How often you have had congestion, coughing, difficulty breathing, wheezing, or have woken at night because of coughing
